We have three dogs.
They make me yell, cuss in frustration, a source of stress relief, entertainment and they make me smile every day. They are… Frosty (aka Big Dumb Dog), Rosie, and Charlie. I love each one for different reasons.
Rosie (middle) is the one that bonded to me. I really don’t know why. I call her our Walmart puppy. We got her for free in front of Walmart. Let’s just say I was not pleased. But when your 5-year-old son comes running up to you and says “Look at my new puppy mommy” how could I refuse him? So I told my husband we could keep her if I got to name her. So I named her Rose. She is so sweet. Anytime anyone in the family needs a little love she is THE one that senses it and comes up to you and will put her head on your lap as if to say “I am here for you”.
Next, there is Charlie(right), my husband’s dog. The friend that you love dearly because there is just something about his neediness that most of the time you can’t say no to. The watchdog, protector, alarm, he will bark at anything and everything. He makes sure that ANYTHING that is on our property meets with his approval…a deer, rabbit, a piece of paper blowing in the wind. Charlie watches Everything.
I am the official Doorman (at least in the daytime). I let those dogs in, I let the dogs out of the house about 30 times a day. It doesn’t matter that we have a doggie door that leads to the back yard, they prefer the front yard. More action out front I guess.
Last but not least is our son’s dog Frosty. I have nicked named him BIG DUMB DOG. He is a mixed up mutt. He is a very odd looking dog. His body is too long for his legs. It is almost like he needs another set of legs for his middle. The people that were giving him away said that he was a Lab mix. I can see Lab in him, but there is also some kind of terrier.
As you can see here he earned his nickname last week. We were painting our house and just got done with the front door. That cranberry color on his rump is the color of our front door. Do you like it?
Anyways, Frosty is everything Charlie is not. He doesn’t really bark, a very laid back dog. That doesn’t mean he doesn’t get excited. He does, just in different ways. Most of the time it is all about food. All 3 of them will say goodbye barking and howling and will greet us in the same manner when we come home.
So that is our furry family. Each one of them has their own personality and love-able-ness about them. As someone who grew up without a lot of pets, I never thought I could love them as much as I do. They are a part of my heart, they are family.
Do you have dogs or pets that you cannot imagine living without them? I would love to hear about them.
Thanks for stopping by.
