This pretty painted table is the first time I painted furniture.
It was so easy! I have had this little table forever. I am not even sure where I got it. We use it by the front door to store our keys. It was an eye sore and I have wanted to paint it for years. Well I found the perfect color and the time.

- sandpaper 220 grit
- foam paint brush
- Dixie Belle Milk Paint 8oz. Hurricane Grey(The perfect color)
- Briwax – light brown
Then I put on the first coat of paint. You could see the wood through that first coat. I was a little nervous that it was going to take more than 2 coats of paint. This paint dries very fast and it was dry to the touch within 20 minutes. I painted it outside in the sun so I an sure that helped it dry faster.
Next, I put on the second coat. Of course painting with the grain of the wood as the instructions indicated. I wasn’t sure what kind of brush to use when I started, so I went with a foam. It worked out well for me. There are no streaks or paint brush marks. The second coat covered everything very well. Even if I had to put a third coat on it, It was not a big deal because it dried so fast.
After the second coat dried I rough it up again with sandpaper to put wear marks on it. I love that look.
Last, I put Briwax on it to seal it. I chose light brown to give it an antique look. The wax is like a paste. You use a rag to wipe it on and wipe off the excess. Easy!
So that’s it! It took me about 2 hours(if that) from start to finish. I am so happy how this pretty painted table came out. Do you like it? What was your first painted project? I would love to hear about it. Leave a comment below.
