These 10 things I have discovered about getting older are very simple but have been “aha” moments.
I choose to have less drama in my life. Why put yourself though it. It wears you down. It is a waste of time, and let’s face it how much time do I really have left.
I am grateful for everything that has been given to me, I have worked for, and I have the ability to do. I have discovered there is always someone out there that has less or has bigger problems.
I truly have joy. I like who I have become. I like where my life is right now and where it is going.
It has grown through the years. Hopefully, you had the love of your parents and you for them when you are a kid. As I get older, have gotten to experience love in different forms and they are all amazing, first love, child love, love of a pet, love of my husband, love of my extended family, grandchild love, Adult child love (my own child and my love to my parents), love of God. Love starts out so simple and it grows so big. I repeat, Love is AMAZING!
You are never too old to have dreams nor for that matter fulfill them. Of course I am realistic about them, I am not going to dream of becoming a runway model. But I can have a dream of having a new career as a blog writer, or shop owner, or a hobby farmer.
There are days when I catch myself in the mirror and say “Who the He** is that!”. But I know getting older means I have laughed, cried, worried, and loved my way through life. I have earned every one of them.
This can be a hard pill to swallow. I have found forgiving can help me move forward and free myself to enjoy life, who I am and who I have become. This means forgiving myself(still working on that) and forgiving others who have wronged me.
I have never stopped learning new things. NOR do I want to stop. I love learning about new things and the journey.
It’s ok to have fun. (This is a work in progress). For the longest time I thought I had to be serious about who I am and what I am doing with my life all the time. But there are times you can have fun, and laugh at yourself.
Did I hit every cliché in the book? I guess they would not be clichés if they were not true.
Getting older is not all that bad. Today. Tomorrow might be another subject.
