The garden trellis that was built for me this spring is the awesome for 2 reasons.
First, I have wanted it for a long time and finally got it. Second, my husband made it for me and only me. I love him for the things he does for me. I have to say my husband is very talented when it comes to building things. All he really has to do is look at a picture of something and he can figure out how to make it. It is not exactly like the picture, but more often than not it is even better than the picture. This garden trellis is a very good example of his work.

5 – 2×4’s 10 foot long
2 – 2×6’s 8 foot long
2 – hog panels
Here is how he built it.
First he built the uprights by hammering the hog panels to the 4 of the 2×4’s using the fencing staples. He made 2 of them, one for each side of the trellis.(1)
Then he made the bottom of the trellis. This is the base that supports the uprights. He used the 2×6’s for this part.(2)
Next he brought the uprights into place and screwed them to the base.(3) Because the uprights were so tall he had to made braces using the last 2×4.(4)
My plan for this garden trellis was to grow peas. So when I saw it at this point (My husband said he was done with it.) I thought what a waste of space because the peas were never going to grow 10 feet tall. So in my sweetest loving voice I asked him if he could put a shelf on both sides about half way up so I could plant even more peas. Well that sweet voice got what I wanted. heheha
Do you like my garden trellis? I love it, for no other reason than my hubby made it just for me. I have been debating whether or not to paint it. What do you think?
What do you grow in your vegetable garden? I would love to hear about it. Feel free to comment below.
